AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Diamond Select Toys

It's always a pleasure to visit our friends from Diamond and this year was no exception. We were given the grand tour of the showroom which included new Marvel Select figures, tons of new Minimates, Universal Monsters action figures (some we couldn't photograph), Femme Fatales, Transformers, Star Trek, Star Wars and more. Couple of things to note: DST is doing Marvel Ultimate Quarter scale figures starting with Captain America and Deadpool and they'll only be $50 bucks each! AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Idolz Toys
A few months back AFC reviewed the first Idolz Toys action figure, the Gruntor Idolz. We thought the figure was one of the best new toys of 2009 with a ton of potential. At Toy Fair 2010 we had the pleasure of meeting up with Idolz Toys to get a glimpse at some of their new Idolz for the year. I urge you guys to support Idolz Toys, and give their product a chance. It could lead to some really cool cross-licensing opportunities. We got a glimpse of that potential, but unfortunately we can't show it here for legal reasons. So let's give Idolz Toys a hand and make it all happen. You won't be disappointed. Check out the AFC Idolz Toys Feature Gallery.

For the first time in our Toy Fair career, AFC met with the folks at MEGA Brands and we were blown away! AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Hasbro Star Wars

Vintage Rocket Firing Boba Fett. 'Nuff said. Hasbro blew us away with their Star Wars presentation and showroom this year. It may be just because the AFC'ers are partial to Star Wars, but man is the 2010 lineup impressive. The vintage line is back in full force and will cover ALL 6 movies. Imagine Darth Maul on a vintage card! The Empire Strikes Back 30th Anniversary is in full swing and the new TWO FOOT TALL AT-AT won't break your bank either at $99.99! Oh yeah, and the Rocket Firing Boba Fett... it's this year's mail away. AWESOME! Check out all the Star Wars coverage in AFC's Toy Fair Feature.

AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Hasbro Marvel Universe

I think Hasbro's Marvel Universe Toy Fair showing can be summed up in one word. Galactus. Yep, the big man himself is coming to the Marvel Universe lineup and he is HUGE! 19 inches huge! Looks like the price point will be around $50... a little steep? I dunno, he's pretty impressive! Add that to new waves of 3 3/4 inch figures and we've got an awesome year of Universe figures headed our way! I wonder how they'll get Archangel's GIANT wings into the blister. Check it all out in the AFC Marvel Universe Toy Fair Gallery.

AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Hasbro Transformers

The Transformers showroom was loaded to the rafters will new bots! This years lineup spans the entire 26 year history of Transformers with surprises like G1 Thrust, IDW's Drift, Seaspray and the new Power Core Combiners line. That and so much more can be found in AFC's Transformers Toy Fair Gallery.

AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Hasbro G.I. Joe

Yo Joe! GI Joe and Cobra are at it again in 2010. We're moving away from the movie line, dropping the actor likeness and going back to a more original/old school style. The packaging is new and combines a little bit of the 25th anniversary line and the movie line. Resolute gets some new life too with 2 new Cobra and Joe multi-packs... these were a big hit at the Showroom. Oh and we can't forget the new Cobra HISS Tank. It's actually pretty cool! All these things and so much more are waiting for you in the AFC G.I. Joe Toy Fair Gallery.

AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Hasbro Iron Man

WOW! Lots of cool stuff coming out of Iron Man this year folks! And it's not just movie stuff either. The 3 3/4 inch line will be in full effect with figures you've been dying to see. Some of which were not even on display in the showroom (we got to see them in the presentation beforehand). You'll have your choice of Movie or Comic Figures and even some cool gimmick figures for the kids too. And of course there's also Tony Starch. Can't have a year without a Potato Head now can we? Head on into the AFC Iron Man Toy Fair Gallery to check out the new figures.

What? Rocket Firing Boba Fett? Finally In the Mail??
In a big surprise at this years Hasbro Toy Fair Media Presentation, the Hasbro Star Wars Team announced this years mail-away exclusive. After decades of waiting, the original vintage rocket firing Boba Fett will be hitting your mailboxes! Starting in August the new Empire Strikes Back Vintage line figures will come sporting an equally vintage mail away sticker for Fett. Collect 5 proofs of purchase, mail 'em in with some S&H money and the figure is yours. And this time you'll actually get a rocket firing figure. Hasbro says the figure is nearly identical to the original with a few updates here and there that were unavoidable in today's production standards and processes, but for the most part this figure is as vintage as it can get. It'll even come packaged on an original style 1978 backer card. It doesn't get much better! Good things come to those who wait. Enjoy the images.

AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Hasbro Spider-Man

At last Spidey gets the 3 3/4 inch treatment! It was exciting to hear that... then they showed the figures. Not that they're bad. The villains are great and the standard Spider-Man figures are cool, but the endless gimmick figures were just a bit too much. Unfortunately the line is watered down quite a bit with multiple Spider-Gimmicks, but for us purists out there the core characters will suit us just fine and our kids will have a blast with "fill-in-the-blank" Spider-Man. Check out the web of action figures coming your way in the AFC Spider-Man Toy Fair Gallery.

AFC Toy Fair 2010 Coverage: Hasbro Super Hero Squad

There's just too many Super Hero Squad figures for us to keep track of! We know you guys love them though, so we shot some pics just for you. A few surprises await you inside in the AFC Super Hero Squad Toy Fair Gallery.

AFC Sponsor Update: Brian's Toys
From Brian's Toys: Ralph McQuarrie's concept art is striking and imaginative. eFX worked long and hard to bring the Darth Vader McQuarrie Helmet to life. This helmet is not a fashion statement, it's sweet protective head-wear for when you get burned in a lightsaber duel. Pun intended. Also, check out the Boba Fett Artist Portfolio by Joe Johnston. The portfolio features 11 images of Johnston our favorite bounty hunter (no offense Dengar) for use in pre-production. Includes a COA and Joe Johnston's signature. Finally, take a look into our vintage section of the newsletter. Tons of great stuff, particularly the C-3PO & R2-D2 immunization poster. Moss Man Ears Unflocked
From MattyCollector.com: You overwhelmingly asked for the ears of Moss Man® to be unflocked and we listened… we stopped production of the flocked ear version, made a change, and Moss Man™ will forevermore have unflocked ears. Now, all 2010 Club Eternia™ subscribers will automatically get the version with unflocked ears as their March figure! But because we produced a small quantity of flocked ears before making what’s called a “running change,” we will sell both the flocked-ear and unflocked-ear versions as separate items on March 15th. That means there will be two separate product pages, one with flocked ears and one with unflocked ears, so you’ll need to be careful that you order the one you want. Again, there’s just a small quantity of the flocked-ear version available, and we’re expecting them to go quickly. Other than the flocking, the figures are identical. Both versions will have an evergreen fresh scent and an alternative 2002-inspired head designed by the Four Horsemen. Your chance at both happens right here at MattyCollector.com at 12:00 noon Eastern/9:00 am Pacific!

AFC Sponsor Update: Brian's Toys
From Brian's Toys: We tried sending VGA-graded Videogames to customers using a series of warp pipes and tanooki suits, but the hard acrylic cases created transport problems. I guess we could try wrapping them in durable-denim overalls? Otherwise, you will just have to get your NES Super Mario Bros VGA 80+ and Metroid VGA 80 by FedEx Ground for free by using code SHIP4FREE (Restrictions apply). Oh, and SNARF SNARFFF! The Lion-O Statue has made an appearance and his Sword of Omens is ready to blast some ray of awesome in your life. Finally, the new Legacy and Clone Wars Waves have been delayed for a few more days. Apologies for the inconvenience, we finally realized our complex system of warp pipes has performed less than satisfactory. Expect them to ship February 3rd at the latest. Go here for more!
